Measurement of Peri-Implant Bone Width with and without Metal Artifact Reduction Algorithm Using Two Cone-Beam Computed Tomography Software Programs

Objective: To assess the effect of metal artifact reduction (MAR) algorithm two cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) software programs on accuracy peri-implant bone width measurements. Material and Methods: This in vitro study evaluated 35 bovine rib blocks measuring 8 x 11 mm. Titanium implants were inserted placed a wax model mandible. CBCT scans obtained with ProMax 3D Cranex systems without MAR algorithm. The buccal lingual plates surrounding implant was measured by observers. Cronbach’s alpha calculated to inter-observer agreement. area under curve (AUC), sensitivity specificity values compared. Results: observers had an excellent higher than that (p<0.05). Both showed when not used for plate Conclusion: application did notably increase measurement any system. generally 3D.
